So while this review is for the AICYP (non-switched) model, I'll leave my original comments in place. Pulling them out takes almost no effort as I found out after moving some cables around behind my computer (I'm using them to connect two computers to a single set of speakers). UPDATEI received an exchange from Monster and the replacement has more solid feeling sockets; plugs now "snap" into the sockets as I'd expect. I've tried plugs from different headphones/cables and they all demonstrate this, so it's not due to the plug; the sockets are just too loose.
I spent a little extra for this splitter after reading the reviews but after receiving it I am somewhat disappointed. I wish I could bump up my rating to 3 Stars, since Monster did provide excellent customer service and made it right in the end. The only thing is that they sent me a different model as a replacement (AICYP 200) which has volume controls and a switch. Both input sockets on the adapter I received are really loose.
I'm hoping I just got a defective unit and Monster will warranty it, but as it stands right now, I can't recommend this item. But it doesn't look like I can change the star rating, after the fact. When I plug a stereo mini-jack into either input, there isn't a reassuring 'click' when fully inserted. They're so lose that it's easy to accidentally pull the plug out of the socket.
Happy with purchase. Nice product that works well. No problems with volume or loss of sound quality.
Basically it doesn't stay securely in place, leading to interruptions in music listening, etc. The diameter of the hub for the jack inserting into the ipod is large enough that it hits the protective casing that I leave my ipod in (Speck --black rubber); as a result, the slightest false movement causes the jack to fall out of the ipod.
It's worth it. We used it recently on a vacation so my wife and I could watch movies on my iTouch. We watched 6 movies together and didn't hear one peep of static. I was constantly adjusting the mini-plug to eliminate static noises.
I've always been a big fan of Monster products. As the adage goes, you get what you pay for. Spend the extra $$. I use them for every electronic connection in my house.
This one worked beautifully. Thanks to Monster for another great product. This quality of this little splitter is no exception. I've owned a couple of cheap splitters in the past and both sounded terrible.
whether it's watching movies or tv shows or listening to music, whenever i have someone with me and we're on standby we will always be entertained. what more can i say other than allows two people to be entertained at once on my ipod touch.
